Detroit’s penalty kill and inability to score costly against Senators |

1 goal on 49 shots. Detroit is making goalies look pretty good lately. On a night where the push for the wild card got even further out of reach, Detroit needed something that they’ve been missing. Scoring and a penalty kill. The team has not been the same since the 4 Nations break. You can’t accuse them of not putting in the effort, but the scoring well has dried up.
It’s beyond frustrating, and Larkin’s lone tally was the result of quick and hard work. Still, the team needs players to step up and no one is right now. This losing streak feels like it could well be the end of Detroit’s post season hopes. When every game becomes “must win”, you have to count on other teams failing to collect and that’s just not happening right now.

At 2:58 in the 3rd Period Detroit finally got on the board as Dylan Larkin collected his 27th of the season. The captain and Soderblom entered the zone. Larkin took a hard shot that was blocked. Larkin the stole the puck from a Sens player, got it to Raymond, who found Larkin again. The Captain had a hard shot go off the goalie’s chest and in the net. 1-1
At 14:56 OTT regained the lead. 2-1
