It all begins today, the NHL post season. You can put it on the board, yessssssss.
Two games on the schedule today, Blues at Jets and Avalanche at Stars.
A triple header tomorrow starting at 3PM EDT. Devils at Canes, Sens at Leafs and the nightcap Wild at Knights, or just simply, Wild Knights starting at 10PM EDT.
Looking at the Canadian contingent.
Last they won Lord Stanley's Cup.
Longest Wait for a Stanley Cup, Teams in 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Toronto (58 years; last 1967)
Edmonton (35 years; last 1990)
Montreal (32 years; last 1993)
Ottawa (32 years; looking for first Cup)
Jets 2.0 (14 years, looking for first Cup)
The last time the Leafs made the playoffs nine straight seasons they won the Cup in 1967.
From 2000-2004 the Leafs and Senators met four times in the playoffs. Toronto triumphing each time.
Ottawa swept the season series against Toronto this season, 3-0-0, with Leafs scoring just three goals.
From March 1st to end of the season, the top three teams in the East were, Ottawa .729, Toronto .696, Montreal .652.
The Leafs ended the season with a five game win streak. And they were 10-1-1 in their final 12 games, which lead to them winning the division. And Stolarz was stellar, his last 8 starts 8-0-0, 1.37GAA, .950SV%, 3SO.
You talk about a full team effort, the Senators didn't have a point per game player this season or a 30 goal scorer.
Where the Leafs had the second best road record in the NHL this season, Senators were a game below .500 away from home. Ottawa was 2-3-1 in their last 6 games on the road with just 10 goals at even strength.
Toronto finished the regular season winning 7 straight at home outscoring opponent 28-10.
One thing is for sure, this will be a tough series. We will see where Reaves and Pacioretty fit in.
Another column tomorrow morning to set up Sunday night.
