The Trois-Rivieres Lions began a sequence where they will face the Adirondack Thunder (New Jersey Devils) seven consecutive times. It began on Wednesday at Colisee Videotron and the teams headed to Adirondack for a tripleheader starting on Friday.

Wednesday: Adirondack Thunder 1 - Trois-Rivieres Lions 4

The Thunder led 1-0 late in the first period when Jakov Novak tied it with a shot from the top of the faceoff dot during a man advantage. The Lions added two more power play goals in the final of 2:01 of the second period when Novak buried a one-timer and Nicolas Guay’s shot trickled behind the goalie with under a second remaining before the intermission. Novak completed his hat trick in the closing moments of the contest to secure the victory.

Friday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 2 - Adirondack Thunder 1

Tyler Holland opened the scoring in the first period after splitting the defence before beating the netminder with a shot. Adirondack beat Luke Cavallin for the first time in the third period, but Novak broke the tie 4:01 with the eventual game winning goal.

Saturday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 4 - Adirondack Thunder 3

The Lions got on the board early into the contest when Nicolas Guay created a turnover that resulted in the puck ending up on Tommy Cormier’s stick in the slot for the goal. Novak added to the lead with a shot from a bad angle and later, Morgan Adams-Moisan knocked in a rebound from the crease area. Adirondack made it a one-goal game when Isaac Dufort skated into the slot before beating the goaltender with a top corner shot. The Devils affiliate cut the lead back to one goal early in the third period, but failed to score the equalizer before the final horn.

Sunday: Trois-Rivieres Lions 6 - Adirondack Thunder 2

The visitors capitalized on a double minor against the Thunder to open the scoring as Holland’s shot from the faceoff circle went to the back of the net. Later in the period, Nicolas Guay converted a one-timer pass from Justin Ducharme to double the lead and in the final moments of the frame, Adams-Moisan knocked in a rebound for a shorthanded goal. Adirondack cut the deficit early in the second period but Holland got the goal back during a power play with a one-timer from the slot. The home team took advantage of a man advantage to make it a two-goal game into the second intermission. Trois-Rivieres continued to make the Devils affiliate pay for their indiscipline with power play goals by Israel Mianscum and Holland for the hat trick in the third period.

Roster News

The Laval Rocket signed Logan Nijhoff to a professional tryout contract and recalled Vincent Sevigny prior to Saturday’s contest. With several injuries on the roster, coach and general manager Ron Choules only had 10 forwards and six defencemen available for the final two games of the weekend.

The club suspended Zachary Emond to retain his rights as the goaltender heads overseas to continue his career with HC Banska Bystrica in Slovakia. The goalie drafted by the San Jose Sharks 176th overall in 2018 was in his second season with the Lions and held a 10-3 record, 2.21 goals against average and .927 save percentage. He joined the Lions last season on a two-way AHL contract with the Laval Rocket, and returned this year on a ECHL contract.
