Adam Fantilli recorded his second career hat-trick in a 7-3 victory over the New York Rangers to leap frog back into postseason contention.

Period I

Justin Danforth opened the scoring for the forward’s seventh of the regular season from defender Zach Werenski. With this assist, Werenski made franchise history by surpassing Director in Player Development, Rick Nash, in assists with 259.

Artemi Panarin, the former Columbus winger, evened the scoring for his Blue Shirts at home for his 23rd of the campaign from Alexis Lafereniere and Vincent Trocheck.

Period II

Columbus got two goals in 26 seconds from forward Adam Fantilli to get to his first career 20 goal season. Both goals were assisted by only Dmitry Voronkov. The first came at 3:07 into the frame; the follow-up was at 3:33.

The Rangers had two short-handed goals in 42 seconds midway through the second period.

First, blue-liner Braden Schneider had his fourth of the year from Trocheck and DJ Mika Zibanejad. This brought the home team to within one.

Kreider snipped the second one home for his 18th of the regular season from Zibanejad. This concluded all Rangers’ scoring in the game despite it being the game tying goal.

Mathieu Olivier tipped the eventual game winner behind the Jackets’ legend, Jonathan Quick for his career high 13th of the year from Werenski’s 260th career apple and Dante Fabbro.

In the dying minute and a quarter of the middle frame, Fabbro pushed the envelope with his fifth goal with the Jackets from Sean Kuraly and James van Riemsdyk.

Period III

Kent Johnson got his career high 21st goal of the season from Olivier and captain Boone Jenner.

Fantilli closed the scoring with his second hat-trick and 21st of the regular season with the helpers going to winger Kirill Marchenko and defender Damon Severson.

Goaltenders

Jonathan Quick allowed 7 goals on 28 shots for a 0.750 save percentage.

Daniil Tarasov had 32 saves on 35 shots for his third straight win in the crease for a 0.914 save percentage.
