Not gonna happen. The league is far too balanced for repeats anymore. Its not like Chicago is a stacked team with a hall of fame goalie. but anyways, congrats on the cup win. |

I'm excited about the future of this team.
Can you imagine if they DO win against next year ? Roof they win 3 more over the next 10 years ! ?
It's not just the superior leadership that Toews Keith and Hossa bring , the Hawks have serious talent under the AHL level that could blossom over the next 5 years .
Oh and the Hawks also have 2m in salary cap space and a team loaded with 2 time Stanley Cup Champions.
This is the Golden Years of Blackhawk hockey , enjoy it fellas |

FIRST and YES...they can DEFFO do it....stay upper tier most of the season...add some depth at the deadline and JOG ON
- philco28
(1) Injuries: are the "playing wounded" from June going to be relatively healthy next year? Hossa, Handzus, Bickell, Toews, others. Hawks were very lucky with injuries last year - except for Bolland and Sharp, didnt miss many games.
(2) Olympics: a lot of Hawks will be playing in Sochi during the 3-week break, and will be going to pre-season camps in about two weeks.
(3) another somewhat compressed season given the 3-week break in February.
(4) Given the of the above, can Q avoid the "Thibodeau Method" and not go all-out to win every regular season game? Hossa, Handzys, Roszival, even Toews are going to need to be healthy-scratched every once in a while.
Given some breaks, yes, a Cup-run is certainly repeatable. |

To me Hall of Fame goaltending is a Non sequitur. Chicago has won two cups with good, not great goalies, who both entered their respective playoff series with many questions. Chicago won the both cups because of the defensive system of the team along with dependable goaltending, rather than on the back of the goalie.
I too don't think the Hawks can repeat but for other reasons, potential injuries, the loss of important role players, Cup hangover etc. but the lack of Hall of Fame goaltending is unlikely to be the reason. |

a) incorrect (I mean, really, really wrong)
b) correct
But A renders B moot (in theory, and practically proven in 2013)
Not sure what you were watching last season. |

"Balance" is a funny word.
The Hawks didn't lose a game for the 1st 50% of the season
The Hawks dismantled the defending Champions
The Hawks made Chara look terrible .
The Hawks biggest rival is now in the East.
Jonathan Toews.
In the West the LAK are the only team that has a shot against the Hawks.
I think the Ducks are good but that top line will be less effective now minus Bobby
I'm excited to see how Dallas' roster changes make them more competitive .
The Canucks are spiraling out of control and Lu plus Torts is a terrible combination.
Minnesota roster is still the same and the Hawks slept walked thru that series.
The Sharks suck.
Phoenix sucks.
If anyone in the league now has a chance at repeating its this Hawks team. |

Certainly not impossible, but all the talking heads will smoke their crack and pick Pittsburgh like they do every (frank)ing year. |

Which is crazy. Because they really suck.
No D.
No G.
And ABCrosby is always one hit from the lights shutting off forever.
I didn't think Pittsburgh was going to beat Ottawa and I feel the Rangers would have beat their ass just like the Bruins did.
There was a reason their GM went nuts at the deadline , he knew they were not good enough and it was proven. |

The speed of the game today basically renders every player to this status IMO. But last time I checked it was team game. Geno, Crosby and Neal cannot do it themselves. There are plenty of teams with legit stars it would be nice if they woke up and discussed them once in a while.

Think it'll become a shrinking prospect just because you'll have a full, condensed schedule this year with practically every team in the league gunning for them. If you've played hockey, you know one thing: if you can't hang with the other team, you bang them. The hawks are gonna get hit plenty this year. Throw in 2c problems, goalie doubts (just wait), and all the hassle and scheduling shenanigans that're gonna pop up with the new divisions and the Olympics, and it's going to be tough for them to be dominant again. |

No sign or really expectation of this...
But can you imagine if Pirri actually clicked on the 2nd line?
Whoa boy
Toews Kane Bickell
Pirri Hossa Sharp
Nightmare Saad Shaw
Handzus Hayes/Smith/Bollig/Lalonde |

I don't think this is an unreasonable point of view. Could all be true. Thanks

It comes down to CHI, LAK, STL, BOS, or PIT to win the Cup again.
I think STL will actually be very very good this year as long as Pietrongolo is signed. |

Stacked isnt having 1 great line, a good 2nd line, and 1 great D Pairing, an average goalie, and the rest of the team as depth players. You my friend are delusional. Chicago won this cup with great team work and coaching and clutch plays by their star players. A stacked team is the Colorado teams that won the cup, the Detroit repeat cup winners in the 90's. Thats a stacked team, its almost impossible to have a stacked team in the salary cap era. |

I will have to say its pretty impressive to win a cup with Niemi and Crawford, but hey, we came pretty close to beating you guys in 2010 with Leighton. I know that would have stung if we won. |

You're not including Detroit? The Wings had a hell of a run last season, and have added to their roster over the summer. I'd have to think they have to be in that discussion too. |

Really?
So tell me, Oh Great Enlightened One, how did the Hawks break the consecutive points record and win the Stanley Cup pretty much going away last year?
Teamwork and coaching? But not talent? Really?
How?!
And what is the difference between that team and this one? Tell me, and please use facts. Not a bunch of theory about the salary cap era.
You, my friend, don't deal in facts, or logic, but rather a bunch of smack talk, and "conventional wisdom."
I'm not saying the Hawks will repeat.I am saying it is in the realm of possibility based on something that happened in 2013. And not much has changed since then. So is Vegas. I guess they're delusional, too.
Please, give me some facts, not your likely totally Eastern Conference under-estimation of the talent level on the Stanley Cup Champs. |

The hawks certainly COULD repeat. They have an even better chance than the Kings last year I think. But I think the fatigue factor will keep them from achieving that goal. Shorter offseason than usual plus olympics will play a huge factor. Really hoping I'm wrong on this one though because boy does dynasty have a nice ring to it |
