Not gonna happen. The league is far too balanced for repeats anymore. Its not like Chicago is a stacked team with a hall of fame goalie. but anyways, congrats on the cup win.

I'm excited about the future of this team.

Can you imagine if they DO win against next year ? Roof they win 3 more over the next 10 years ! ?

It's not just the superior leadership that Toews Keith and Hossa bring , the Hawks have serious talent under the AHL level that could blossom over the next 5 years .

Oh and the Hawks also have 2m in salary cap space and a team loaded with 2 time Stanley Cup Champions.

(1) Injuries: are the "playing wounded" from June going to be relatively healthy next year? Hossa, Handzus, Bickell, Toews, others. Hawks were very lucky with injuries last year - except for Bolland and Sharp, didnt miss many games.

(2) Olympics: a lot of Hawks will be playing in Sochi during the 3-week break, and will be going to pre-season camps in about two weeks.

(3) another somewhat compressed season given the 3-week break in February.

(4) Given the of the above, can Q avoid the "Thibodeau Method" and not go all-out to win every regular season game? Hossa, Handzys, Roszival, even Toews are going to need to be healthy-scratched every once in a while.

Given some breaks, yes, a Cup-run is certainly repeatable.

To me Hall of Fame goaltending is a Non sequitur. Chicago has won two cups with good, not great goalies, who both entered their respective playoff series with many questions. Chicago won the both cups because of the defensive system of the team along with dependable goaltending, rather than on the back of the goalie.

I too don't think the Hawks can repeat but for other reasons, potential injuries, the loss of important role players, Cup hangover etc. but the lack of Hall of Fame goaltending is unlikely to be the reason.

I didn't think Pittsburgh was going to beat Ottawa and I feel the Rangers would have beat their ass just like the Bruins did.

The speed of the game today basically renders every player to this status IMO. But last time I checked it was team game. Geno, Crosby and Neal cannot do it themselves. There are plenty of teams with legit stars it would be nice if they woke up and discussed them once in a while.

Think it'll become a shrinking prospect just because you'll have a full, condensed schedule this year with practically every team in the league gunning for them. If you've played hockey, you know one thing: if you can't hang with the other team, you bang them. The hawks are gonna get hit plenty this year. Throw in 2c problems, goalie doubts (just wait), and all the hassle and scheduling shenanigans that're gonna pop up with the new divisions and the Olympics, and it's going to be tough for them to be dominant again.

Chicago won this cup with great team work and coaching and clutch plays by their star players. A stacked team is the Colorado teams that won the cup, the Detroit repeat cup winners in the 90's. Thats a stacked team, its almost impossible to have a stacked team in the salary cap era.

I will have to say its pretty impressive to win a cup with Niemi and Crawford, but hey, we came pretty close to beating you guys in 2010 with Leighton. I know that would have stung if we won.

The hawks certainly COULD repeat. They have an even better chance than the Kings last year I think. But I think the fatigue factor will keep them from achieving that goal. Shorter offseason than usual plus olympics will play a huge factor. Really hoping I'm wrong on this one though because boy does dynasty have a nice ring to it
