The cusp was 4 years ago to be honest

That's true, but he's not totally over-matched...yet. Hopefully he just reitres as a Devil.

I thought Brodeur was leaving the Devils because he wasn't content with being a backup....now he wants to go to Montreal to be a backup.....makes zero sense.

Just sign with the Devils, be the backup, play your 20 games and retire after this year on a high note with the team you've been with for the past 20 seasons.

Or, is he backhandedly saying the Devils are not cup contenders??

The worst part is he's really not bad. He's just good enough to scratch and claw for a starting job, and too competetive to accept anything else. That's why we're all so fed up with him.

I still think the Ducks or Stl will be his destination in November.

I can see that--good summary of him. He's just unwilling to accept that it's time to take a step back. Why, though, does he refuse to be a back up in NJ but will sign in Montreal and be a back up?

I actually see Brodeur signing with the Wild , they could dump Backstrom, and give Kuemper some time to develop.

So false. Little PR move there.

There is about zero % chance they take a shot on Brodeur over Budaj.

I respect the hell out of the guy, one of the best of all time, but he's done. Needs to retire with grace and move into management/coaching whatever he wants to do with NJ.

The unnecessary "controversy" that it would create in this city would be unreal.

I don't think there's any doubt in Montreal, at this point, that Price is a elite goalie in the league/world. I think having Marty to share some experience and time in the net would be good for Montreal. No one with any common sense would look at a 42 yr old goalie to take over the crease. But I have to ask myself, if we had Marty as back up last season would we have a better chance at advancing to the finals? Personally, I would think yes. This might be why it's a option for MB.

I think the only reason MB is considering MB is the fact that we lost leaders in Gionta and Gorges. They would have an assistant coach for 55-60 games + playoffs.

Imagine if Price has a rough start to the season.
Or a bad stretch of 10-12 games.

Albelin is actually a good replacement, he's been coaching Albany for a few years so he is familiar with Gelinas, Larsson, and somewhat Merrill

And he's a super swede. Him and Larsson can swede-out together.

Nhl has a prospect ranking out with 3 scouts

Severson didn't make it to top 110

Hope whatever it is will be better soon

This Gelinas business is getting concerning. According to TG's article his agent isn't even asking for $1.5mil. I know Larsson is only getting 900k but do we really need a holdout like this on our hands?

I actually like the move a lot. with a potentially very young D core and they all are familiar with Tommy A. Hope everything is ok with Stevens though.

See Gelinas deal probably won't be done by camp because of money. Stupid, he has no leverage missing camp only hurts him and the team.

Personally, I think most hab fans are beyond questioning price. Slumps are going to happen but a back up like Brodeur on the bench and in the room has to have positive benefits. There's going to be a poop storm during slumps no matter what! Lol
