I don't understand why they would do this. All the goalies in Montreal are far better than Brodeur. They are pretty well set in the crease and signing him would only do damage than any good. Hey, what do I know, I'm a leafs fan. 😛

Agreed, there time to go after him was the TDL last year. It's probably just a rumor that will never amount to anything more than that. It's right before training camp and nothings going on in the hockey world atm. They need to write about something.

It is probably just a PR thing, The Habs probably thought, sure we will "entertain" the idea. Just long enough to say we did so we don't have to feel bad, but really its a no.

I like Brodeur, but I hope he retires. Too many guys stick around way past their prime. You have to leave while still on top and before your game really starts to slip. Marty is right on that cusp. I'd like to see him retire and become a goalie coach for a team. That way, he can pass on his knowledge and not take away a roster spot for a young guy trying to come up.

They should actually trade Budaj and keep Tokarski as backup.
