Aside from all the things you mentioned about TT, the other aspect of his game that never jumped out to me is his stick handling ability. I've seen him on several occasions handle through traffic, and I mean heavy traffic, 3 players and sticks in tight quarters and come out with the puck and make a play. He's very agile and uses his skates-hand-eye coordination very well when moving through players. I'm really impressed by him.

He's a great young player, important building block, while the Kings still compete now.

The stories of my Jets being linked to LA with a Buff trade won't go away. With no 1st rd pick next year and not a lot of prospects I don't think LA can really make a serious run at Buff..... the players we would want are the players you need situation?

Alex Frolov! There's a blast from the past!

Nice to hear that barn so quiet last night.

Any trades the Kings make for an NHL roster player are going to have to involve Kempe or Mersch. Those are really the only two tradeable assets of note in the Kings system that NHL teams might want right now. Dowd and Gravel are both really good but you aren't getting a workable NHL player caliber player like Byfuglien with those players.

There is interest in Tanner Pearson in WPG as he played with Mark Scheifele but at the end of the day I don't think LA Kings are landing Buff

What a poor effort for last nights game. It was actually boring to watch from start to finish. I can't remember a Kings/ducks game that boring. Game was over before second period started

The thing I like most about TT is that all the other teams want him and I don't see the Kings parting ways with him anytime soon.

If there is a trade for Buff it would have to involve a roster player that has a salary that we need to shed. Brown and Greene come to mind. I can't see the kings giving up Kempe. The only thing that makes me think the Kings are actually looking a Buff or Yandle is the fact that Erhoff and Mcbain aren't getting the job done. Although I am not to thrilled with Mcnaab I don't see the kings moving him either.

as for the game last night.. would have been nice for the Kings to show up, but they didn't and that is what happens when you no-show, you get curb stomped.

When was the last time Carter scored?

*new team rule - do not pass the puck to Gaborik when he is standing still

Although trading brown seems logical, I just don't see it happening during the season. But yeah, I don't see how Buff gets to the Kings without moving salary. And Kempe better not be going anywhere. Top prospect for Kings by far.

I love his work ethic, his possession game, and his puck handling skills. He's got to start finding the net and playing better game to game, but yea he has impressed me this year.

I, too, was interested in this the Buf-trade dilemma "jjonah" and JL describe above. However, I find that after the Kopitar resign along with LAK's current mojo and standing, perhaps tinkering with something that isn't broken (1 in hand is greater than 2 in the bush!) is the best solution. This trade was sounding very lucrative a few months ago and it just seems now that the King's have what they were looking for when the season opening homestand was looking so historically familiar.

In other words, there is no formula for the Byfuglien trade that should preclude LAK's bigger contracts. And, while Byfuglien may be a rental, don't be surprised at whatever Lombardi conjures. My jaw is still agape from Gaborik's signing!

Great article as always, JL, and thank you for your model. Wasn't aware he was on a 35 goal par, albeit obvious.

AND yea, he should've been an All-Star. The new format would have only encouraged him to snipe. I mean, weren't you all pulling for a Quick SO?
