Seriously, Why would he re-sign with Buffalo? The Sabres did him no favor by having him uproot to CA. He came out and said that he really liked his time in Buffalo, yet he is rewarded for that by being traded instead of being signed long term.
Your blog has become fantasyland. Im sure I will read about the next 10 superstar players-that would want no business coming to the 29th place team-that Buffalo should trade Tyler Ennis for. I don't know why I waste my time reading your complete nonsense. |

They tried to resign him and said maybe they will on July 1st. They did him a big favor by trading him to a cup favorite team, unlike what the Caps did to Laich.

Big difference. Laich can't help anyone...if he could someone would have called, no? |

Great for McGinn, not so good for the Sabres.
The Trade that brought McGinn here was more of a throw in. I feel like O'Reilly wasn't going to stay in Colorado, so we Sabres give up 4 players for 1 player, who is good and has made a positive impact, but wow... Murray gives up waaay to much in these blockbuster trades for the returns. The Sabres should have demanded Barrie along with O'Reilly and if they wanted to through in McGinn, so be it for what we gave up. The returns and depth of this Sabres team, leaves much to be desired... - mattsox
This statement is so dumb it should be a comment on the Sabres Facebook page. We traded two NHL players, a prospect and a pick for 2 NHL players. If you are counting the prospect and pick as players then its a 4 for 2 trade. Then we still have a pick for our player. So it's still 4-2 even by your own logic. Which is very flawed as it throws out the value of the player to your team. O'Reilly is an all star number one center. Grigs hasn't cracked 4th line duty, Zadarov has high ceiling but personnel issues. Compher seems he could be a good player and who knows what that pick ultimately ends up becoming. You're oversimplifying by looking at it as player for player |

That's just your opinion. He could be looking at is as they did him a favor. If he wants the opportunity to hit the open market in July, then playing for a playoff team and showing what he can do in games that matter will only increase his value come July. |

come on man. hes was a pending ufa on a team that should be selling off pending ufas. my guess is that murray let him know they really like him, and then said we cant commit to a contract that you would get on july first- at this time. the sabres now have the ability to walk away from mcginn if they want to be players in ufa, and if things dont work out, they can offer mcginn whatever market value is on july 1st. also worth noting that he was not a hot commodity on deadline day, not sure how that will translate in ufa but its possible that he might not be in line for a 5yr 4m contract. |

Man you are out there. Sabres didn't uproot him. They gave him a chance at winning the cup.
He was traded because he was one of the top UFAs available through trade at the deadline. Any GM who keeps someone like that on a bottom placed team without a contract in place is a complete idiot. You just got to learn the business of hockey my friend.
Murray already stated that he will be going after McGinn in the summer.
Honestly man don't read it. It's not like someone's got a gun to your head. |

No there's not a big difference. Both were traded. That's all you need to compare. |

The word is he was looking for 5 a season over 4 to 5 seasons and Murray was not willing to go there. With the uncertainty of the cap Maybe he comes back if the market does not have what he is looking for. He said a few times he really did enjoy his time here. Hope the kid has some success so we end up getting a second from the deal.
