These numbers don't bear that out. Add in the pp time and it's even more scewed to show he benefits greatly from being on with McDavid.

Regardless of matts numbers or anything else, no one will argue playing alongside a generational talent doesn't help a guy.
There's no player on the NHL it wouldn't help

But the narrative is that Leon is a quality player with or without him. Potentially a great one.
And I believe that's beyond debate

I love Drai too. But take him off the pp with McDavid and he struggled as much as others. Ive said it before. It's great that he compliments McDavid well. It's not always easy to find players that mesh with superstars. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. But don't try to make it out to be something it's not. The numbers I posted show he is far better with McDavjd than without. And McDavid is just as good or better without him.

Conner scores at a higher rate without Drai and allows less goals against without Drai.

So clearly it shows Drai is the one benefiting from the pairing.

But these numbers aren't absolute either because all of these stats are inherently flawed. They don't take into account who ELSE was on or off with each at those times which can effect things obviously.

I think this just shows how poor it is to look at a player, and the game, strictly through the lens of advanced statistics.They can be skewed a dozen ways to prove the point you want to make, as statistics do in general.
