Best to trade him and get whatever value the team can. He has and always be a flash in the pan.
Speaking of Q-Tips...watch out Brady there's a bounty out for ya now. |

He's young enough he could be part of long term plans. But still think for this team and ownership he would have to be had at a bargain, like 4*4, which he just might consider given no other team has shown to believe in him long term. Namestnikov, Pageau, C. Brown, Anisimov, Ennis, Hainsey should all be available if you wouldn't consider resigning Duclair. |

Re-signing him is the way to go. Duclair is young enough to be part of a full rebuild. He has loads of talent and is a top 6 forward. He is fitting in really well with his teammates and seems to be very happy here in Ottawa. Why wouldn't we want to sign a 30 goal scorer who plays well defensively and wants to be here?
Let the season play out and see how consistent he can be over the course of the whole year both on offence and defence. Then make the decision on what contract to offer.
We have to pay someone to score goals... And we currently sit at $40M on the cap next year and $25M for 2021/2022.

With Anthony Duclair, you have to look at the road he's travelled so far in his young career. He was REALLY in the dog house in Columbus. I think the move to Ottawa was a huge wake up call for him. No one (even John Tortorella) has ever doubted his skills and abilities. It has always been more a concern of maturity and attitude.
In Ottawa right now, he's a go to guy. And he's even being used on the penalty kill. He even looks happy. Lol! Maybe I'm just being a homer, but I suspect he's likely in the best place, mentally, he's ever been in his NHL career. He's easily capable of consistently putting up 20-25 goals a year if he's 'in a good place'.
When Hoffman got traded I was devastated to see our best goal scorer get shipped out (spare me the Karlsson drama).
I re-sign Duclair. All... day... long. |

The guy is young motivated and skilled. Keep him on a team friendly deal. Tell him if he leaves he won't find the same situation elsewhere. Which is true. |

He's an RFA, even if he has an awesome year I would think the Sens would have a fair amount of leverage negotiation wise. |

We have to resign some guys right? lol
he is on that list for me;
Duke connor jgp demelo boro, I'd be happy with all 5 back on 3 to 5 year deals.
hes still relatively young, close to home, has produced steady since we acquired him.
he is playing the right way and has a good attitude as well
side note our lw depth looks pretty damn nice for the UNPARALLELED SUCCESS RUN

So, out: Tierny Namestikov
Ideally we want some of the guys in belleville making the permanent transition, although we know that doesn't always occur as planned.
Being pessimistic (i.e. realistic) and assuming we don't win the lottery:
Tkachuk Brown Brown
Ducliar White Batherson
Balcers Pageau Paul
Chlapik Anisomov Davidsson
Ryan

Boedker contract done maybe buyout bobby?

wolanin zaitsev
brann boro
lajoie or jaros as 7th man
guess demelo and boro signings length is based on far out they see JBD and lassi from being nhl players

would def test the market, if we can get a late 1st let's go for it, otherwise better to keep him. |

He's worth a HECK of a lot more than a late 1st. If that's the only offer, keep him.
... I want to keep him regardless. |

Have to agree. Aside from Tkachuk, there isn't a winger in the system that is more obviously suited to a scoring line role than Duclair, or anywhere close to being able to match a 30G scoring pace at the NHL level. They invested literally nothing in acquiring him, he plays a very entertaining style of game, and no player (other than maybe Nilsson) has benefited more from a fresh start with the Senators. Factor in that he's a former QMJHL star, speaks fluent french, and appears genuinely appreciative of the opportunity he's been provided, and I think they'd be absolute fools to trade him away for just another draft pick on top of the pile they already have.
That said, if he starts going after some kind of massive raise, then it's maybe another story... but he's a player that certainly knows what a difference the right fit on a team can mean, and doesn't appear to be taking that for granted. |

totally off topic, but I went to see my first pro lacrosse game this weekend here in Halifax (we just got an NLL team) and it's (frank)ing incredible.
the physicality is unreal, there were over 120 combined shots, almost 20 goals. what a great friggin sport.....if you guys ever get a chance to watch a game, do it. not quite as fast as hockey in terms of the players moving around, but the ball movement is insanely fast, much more so than puck movement in hockey.
my son started playing last year, but it's a league of 8-9 year olds so I didn't really appreciate the sport.
it won't uproot hockey as my #1, but it's definitely slid into the #2 spot.

It all depends on what he's looking for and what the Sens are prepared to offer. I'd ok with 3 years at 4.75M if he scores 30 goals and gets over 55 pts. |

My son is 6 and will be starting his 3rd year of lacrosse this spring. He was iffy at first, but I took him to see a junior A game and he fell in love. Living in Moncton I can't wait to take him down to a pro game, it is incredible to watch live. |
