Karine Hains: Thank You Shea As it seems more than likely that Shea Weber’s career is over, it’s time to look back on his career and the 5 years he spent wearing the Sainte-Flanelle.

A very emotional piece of literature, which really pulls at the heart strings. Thank you Karine.

Bringing in Shea for PK was one of MBs best moves. We got rid of a player that was all about « me » and got one back that was about « team » and that at a time this club needed leadership grounding. It is a shame that he is injured, I would have liked to see him play at least 2 more years. Only the future knows if he will play again, but we do owe him our gratitude.

Will Weber be LTIR'd for the remainder of his contract?

If he officially retires doesn't Nashville get hit with a pretty big cap recapture bill?

“Pretty big” cap recapture is an understatement. It would cripple the Preds. The league will need to step in somehow.
I can’t see how they could put him on LTIR for the remainder of his contract. All of his injuries (that we know of) are recoverable. At some point, Weber will need to come off LTIR and officially retire if he decides to no longer play.

Great writing Karine......but one thing unmentioned is Weber is not going away. He might not play, but my guess is he is around the team plenty, even as a quasi 'coach' to the defence. His leadership will be still felt by all this next season, regardless of playing or not.

I've wondered if the Habs are going to offer him a position with a wink wink towards him actually retiring but his position in retirement would make him whole on what's left on his contract. That way they don't have to deal with the LTIR

and a nice fat bong! just say yes to drugs!

at 3 i have a zoom birthday party for my itty bitty little niece who is 1 now. she's so cute. we were going in person but 2 of my other nieces and a nephew tested positive about a week ago so we better stay away from the kids (you too, bingolady) since they can't get vaccinated.
