Friedman and others have said they’ve heard the blues are certainly in the conversation. But you can’t do the “player to be named later” thing.

Ek says they are one of the top four teams involved but Dreger, Friedman etc say no. The ask is far more than Holland could pay. It would need to be Holloway, a first then a young player and Holland just said the other day any trade would need to be money in equalling money out. Besides after he gets MAF like Ek says the players are advocating for he really won’t have room.

You keep saying how silly it is for the Coyotes to trade Chychrun. Even going so far as to suggest the NHL could intervene and veto a trade. Have you even thought about it? The current core of Keller, Schmaltz, Chychrun will never win anything. Particularly when the franchise isn't willing to spend money around them. So if they keep Chychrun they still finish in the basement for the next 4 years. Then he either walks as a UFA or they sign him to huge dollars at a time when the franchise still isn't even close to winning. Or they could potentially lose him now, which won't make a difference in the standings, but load up on another pile of premium draft picks or prospects. Those picks or prospects hit their prime alongside all of the other young assets. If the return is right its a smart move. But you aren't thinking long term. By the way, maybe Chychrun has already told them he's walking as a UFA. Ever considered that? Doubt it.

If you haven't noticed everything must go with this team, ownership is clearly trying to sell and the plethora of first overalls plus a low payroll is clearly signaling a clean slate to move this team elsewhere and start from scratch .

If they were so sold on Samsonov why did they scramble to reacquire Vanecek? Word is they view him as their Starter moving forward. That's not to suggest they will just give Samsonov away, the Habs have expressed interest and undoubtedly have the pieces if that's their guy. Samsonov is a RFA and fits the age range they are looking for.

I wouldn't trade Byfield for Chychrun 1-for-1.

Since he's signed beyond this year it wouldn't be strictly a rental? What about flyers? Konecny 2023, 1st and a high end prospect?

This is what I am thinking too. Sell of salary and load up on high picks. That makes the team more attractive to a buyer. I think this is going to be a sudden 180 and the team is going to be sold.
