Karine Hains: Will the Canadiens Hit the Jackpot? Come May 10th, the Habs will have the best odds of winning the lottery and getting to pick first at the NHL draft, but that’s only the first part of what needs to go right for the Canadiens to hit the jackpot.

We are gonna draft 3rd overall because we always do. That being said... Karine, no love for Savoie or Geekie? I know they hover in ranges from scouting but i thought both were pretty good.

Ill point out this brings me zero joy, but if i prep myself for the worst it can only be better or at worst, the worst.

I think Geekie's skating make him less attractive as for Savoie, it's mainly size that make me discard him, I know size isnt everything but I think with Caufield already being tiny, they need more size in the middle... to be honest, there are so many possible names out there, it's hard to know where the chips will fall...

You are indeed dreaming and Hughes hasnt shut the door on Petry staying, he's waiting for him to have a conversation with his family, I really think that if they want to stay, they'll keep him. They don't want to go all out youth on the blue line next season and they dont have millions of RHD...

Guess we'll see how good of a negotiator Hughes really is...but they already have 2 first rounder, I know, it's likely the Flames will be in the tail end of the round but still...
Could be better to try and land a 3rd first rounder for next year, better Bedard odds lol

I really don't see Letang wanting to end his career on a reconstructing Habs team... yes Hughes was his agent but I don't think that makes a signing in Mtl likely tbh... if you're right, i'll say kudos to you though

You can’t win first two years in a row anymore. So if you win it this year then next you’ll have zero chance at Bedard. Unless of course it’s another teams pick that won for you but pretty much all picks these days are lotto protected.

Edit: oops I’m wrong. Allowed two in 5 year span…

You can. Teams cannot win the lottery more than twice in a 5 year period and they are far from guaranteed to win it this year. Nothing says that the 2 times cannot be 2 years in a row, unless i missed something.

No you’re correct. I read it wrong. You can win two in 5 years and can be any two.

I dont think that will happen to the Habs mind you it’s not as if Taylor Hall was on their team

Ha. The lotto whisperer.

Winning the lotto is one thing. Winning it in a year where generational talent is available is another.

This is me on May 10th, when that fat (frank) idiot Bill Daly holds his stupid cardboard with the Habs' logo on it for 3rd overall pick
