The crowd outside the Bell Centre was so loud when Bettman announced there was a trade that I couldn't even hear what the first trade was lol |

Long term how do you see Romanov panning out? |

He's gonna be a solid 2nd pair defenseman with a physical edge, good first pass and probably able to put up 25 points a season, maybe a little more in the right setting but his offensive potential remains limited.
You're getting a good player for sure. Way more of a sure thing than whoever you would have drafted at #13.
You're gonna love him. |

I thought it was all in good fun. And I'd rather focus on the crowd rallying behind Slaf then anything else.
I don't care where the draft is held in the future, I'm sure the NHL loves having a sold out arena for something that shouldn't interest any moderate hockey fan.

Does Mtl need dmen prospects? We could use a center, ie Poehling or Evans |

Our prospect pool is pretty thin as far as RHD goes.
I'm sure either player could be had for the right price. Especially Poehling.

I gotta say, it's pretty cool for Mesar and Slafkovsky to be drafted by the same team.
How often do good friends coming from the same area have that chance? |

Not often for sure. I think Antoine Morand and Maxime Comtois were very good buddies before being drafted by the Ducks. |

The problem is not so much d prospects then NHL ready defensemen.
Romanov was mtl first defenseman by the end of the season. |

I'm not giving up on Poehling, I'd keep him and ship Evans who'se more injury prone. |

There's a lot of forwards compare to defensemen as of now, that's for sure. |

Habs really need to trade at least 2-3 and not get any in return...or else they'll lose some to waivers for nothing. |

It's funny what a few months can do. This spring most, myself included, were thinking that there were probably 3 untouchables on the team. Suzuki, C.C. and Romanov. Fast forward to yesterday and seeing a game plan take shape, now we're like yeah, OK. |

I was initially a little luke warm with the trade but it was probably due to knowing little about the kid. Have slowly warmed up to it the more I learn about him… |

I mean, if you get another untouchable for Romanov I guess that changes things... |

That's probably why the term "untouchable" is kinda foolish.
For the right price and in the right plan, no player is untouchable.

I get Chicago is going full rebuild, but I'm still a little perplexed about why they thought a 21 year old centre, talented and big, couldn't be part of it.
Oh and I'm not a fan of the players they drafted by giving away 2 of their biggest assets in Debrincat and Dach so that doesn't help their case for me.
