If we managed to finish dead last we’d probably pick 3rd. Lotto has not been kind |

Tanking for Bedard is not the answer. He isn't a generational talent. Thats what the Wings need. Bedard is only doing adult things against kids. The moves he makes won't fly in the big leagues. He's good but he isn't McDavid, Crosby, etc great. Too much hype. |

Another sub par goaltending game. Husso as regressed since his promising start. We were so excited from his start that we have to realize that the goaltending we received was what good teams get every night we were just not use too good goaltending. The red wings goaltending depth in the organization is horrible |

This team is down 2-0 or 3-0 after almost every first period for the last month. Just frustrating to watch. This team is basically healthy now... so they don't have any excuses for this kind of crappy showing night in and night out. Just frustrating to watch... they are underperforming in the worst way. This team does have some talent but not being able to play a full 60 minutes is just killing them. Special teams are still awful... especially the PK. I almost expect the other team to get a PP goal whenever the Wings are short handed.
Maybe Yzerman can come up with something at the trade deadline. They still can't keep the puck out of their net... so whatever defensive system they're playing isn't working. |

And we'd probably need to play sub-.125 hockey (~10 points in the last 40 games) just to finish dead last considering where Chicago, Columbus, and Anaheim are—and even that might not be enough. It is literally impossible for a modern NHL team to be that bad, at least not without obvious cap circumvention (e.g., trade all your current players for futures, sign a couple of AHL enforcers to one-year max deals to hit the salary floor) that the league would never allow and would punish severely—like, for example, forfeiting our first-round pick.
It is too late to tank for Bedard. The time to make that decision was the 2022 offseason, or earlier. You can easily argue that it's what Yzerman should have done. But trying to start the tank now makes no sense. |

I mean, I could just as easily say "Yzerman wasn't a generational talent. He was good but he wasn't Gretzky, Lemieux, etc." It's hard to win championships without Hall of Fame level players but teams win without generational players all the time.
Speaking strictly in terms of numbers and projections and probabilities, the most likely outcome for Bedard is probably something like not quite as good as Crosby or McDavid, but as good or better than Matthews, MacKinnon, Hughes, etc. That's worth tanking for if you are in a position to tank, which the Red Wings no longer are.

I agree, need to see him play against men. Could be an amazing talent, but I just don’t see it right now that he will be better than McJesus or Crosby. Time will tell. An exciting player I would love to have in a wings jersey. |

I still do not have confidence the draft lottery is legitimate. If there are. It any secrets, hold it in real time so we all see the results. However, even this can be manipulated. Just keep drafting and developing. |

Another great goaltending display by the red wings goalies . It is not the defence it is the goaltending. I wonder if. Greg Stefan is available |
