Panthers taking Boston to the edge, good, the Panthers will want to keep trading to their chances to win it all.
just my opinion, it is good for the playoffs team to think they are close, it is good for the ones who get bounced, all open opportunities for the Flyers re-build.
Only one team wins the cup, the rest will adjust and make moves. |

Sanheim is another player who is content and comfortable playing in a losing environment. Likes his role.
The Flyers could have had (still may if they pay their cards right) probably 3 1st rd picks in this upcoming draft. They still refuse to want to trade the players who need to move out who have value. Maybe Danny boy sees if differently though will believe it when I see it.
This will not be any rebuild imo. We shall see what path they take in the next 2 months.
Trading Hayes Tony D and what not is not rebuilding. |

Flyers rebuild is a farce.
What will the Flyers have to do in your opinion to classify this off season as a rebuild.

It’s true. The rebuild is a bald-faced lie. What it really means is trading Kevin Hayes and Ivan Provorov. Be prepared to be disappointed with the returns from both players. The Flyers won’t be willing to deal players that would bring a significant return.
What the rebuild means is bringing in players that are in the image of John Tortorella. The Flyers organization has been hoodwinked. Like a third world country whose incompetent leader has just been overthrown, there was a void within the Flyers organization needing to be filled. Tortorella seized the opportunity of weak prey.

Danny B over at the World under 18 tourney in Switzerland. Was just watching the U.S. semifinal game on NHL Network. Lots of talent on that U.S. squad. They won 7-1 and Will Smith with the hatty! |

he had value before that silly contract ext. Real value imo. Now I have no idea how he is valued. Like Laughton they missed the boat on moving Sanheim. Laughton has maintained his value and can be moved. Flyers want to keep him though....rebuild they say

That line with Will Smith is dominant at the U18 level. Maybe only one of them will be available when the Flyers pick. Smith will be gone top 4 or 5. |

The problem with trading Laughton is the same as it always is with players like him: Are the 2 birds in the bush worth more than the 1 in hand? How many NHL players can you name that were the result of a similar trade and are high-end or regular players? I know they are out there, but there's more record of failure than there is of success, especially with draft picks beyond the first 10 or so. And Laughton, at most, may bring a late first round, most likely 2nd round. And 2nd rounders are a complete crap shoot. |

They certainly could have traded him before that ridiculous contract, but that's the problem. I doubt anyone is taking him with that contract especially after a sub par season. |

They can't move him for 4 years. All things being equal, I'd rather keep Provy and trade Sanheim. But, they can't do that. Provy is the only value they have on the blue line that can be moved. |

What does keeping him around accomplish?
The flyers need to be in full collecting assets mode. Whether that is picks, players, or young NHL players.

Bill Meltzer: Sanheim Discusses 2022-23 Season - bmeltzer
If the Philadelphia Flyers trade Travis Konency and Ivan Provorov along with the fat that is Kevin Hayes and Tony DeAngelo, yes I believe this is a rebuild. Whether the Flyers choose to move Carter Hart or not is neither here nor there. After making the moves that need to be made, you still need something on the ice for next season. I personally wouldn’t move Carter Hart, Owen Tippett, Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee. |

You can’t just trade everyone either. Get rid of a few people you know aren’t apart of the team and go from there. Provy I think is gone. If you can somehow manage to get rid of Hayes with a small portion retained you have to do it. There’s no rush here. This is gonna take time. |

I would move Farabee before TK but even an offer on Hart needs to be tyaken into account. All offers on all players need to be taken into account.
This team is a dumpster fire and a retool or a on the fly rebuild has been tired for the last 10 years and we have nothing to show from it.
Burn it to the ground and build it back up, about 5 to 7 years and we need 3 picks in the top 5 in the next 5 years. SO trade anything with 1st round value, and let the prospects develop the right way.
Plan is simple draft until you have 4 to 6 core players and build around them with speed and a little grit. Add vets once your close to help bring in a winning attitude. |

I believe I said this but to add to your point, I think when people hear “rebuild”, they think “blow it all up”, which isn’t what a rebuild has to be. |

Putting in ErikGustafson for the Leafs is gonna be a huge mistake for Toronto. Tampa already dominates on the forcheck and puck possession once they get the puck back. |

Rid selves of Hayes tony d
Trade hart provy/sanheim which even d they can
Rid selve of coots/cam/risto if possible
Anything less than rid selve of at least 3 of those rid players doesn’t move needle toward rebuild
Anything less than moving at least 2 players with actual real value like hart/dman/laughts etc and getting true value doesn’t move needle toward rebuild.
I expect at most Hayes moved and 1 trade of hart/dman
Nothing more. Because they suck
Forgot to add tk to the list of move for asset |

Trade Kevin Hayes, Tony DeAngelo, Ivan Provorov, Rasmus Ristolainen, Carter Hart, Bobby Clarke, Danny Briere, John Tortorella, Joel Otto, Travis Sanheim, Cutter Gauthier, trade for James van Riemsdyk’s rights, than trade James van Riemsdyk rights. Whatever we get back should get us back on track, I’m almost sure of it. |

Couturier and Atkinsom will come back (not at 100%) and the rebuild will be off. Couturier is 30 yo with 7 years left. There is no way they will rebuild |

Forgot to add tk to the list of move for asset - SMS4016 These expectations are totally unrealistic. Coots and Atkinson didn't play a shift this season. No one is trading for them. Risto and Sanheim's contracts make them untradeable. The best you can hope for is that they rid themselves of Hayes and Angelo, and trade Provorov for a good return. Hart and Laughts are outside possibilities. That's all folks!
