When It Rains It Pours

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been absolutely decimated by injuries this season, and it appears it's going to get worse before it gets better.

With the likes of Nathan Horton, Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Ryan Murray and Sergei Bobrovsky, among others, all out of the lineup due to injury, and Jack Johnson having two games remaining on a suspension, you'd think it couldn't get any worse. Apparently it can.

Forward Jack Skille, who has played pretty well this season, and defensemen Fedor Tyutin, who averages over 20 minutes a night, are both absent from practice, according to Aaron Portzline.

Skille was banged up in the last game and may have suffered a neck/head, but I'm not sure what could be ailing Tyutin.

If those two are forced to miss Tuesday's game against Washington, the Jackets will be without 10 players - nine of which are regulars - due to injury and one due to suspension.

That's next to impossible for any team to overcome, and the never-ending list of injuries is the largest of reasons why Columbus is sitting near the bottom of the league instead of in a playoff spot.

If the Jackets don't get some healthy bodies back (and soon) they may be too far out of the race to catch up.

As it stands they're seven points out of a playoff spot, and that number probably won't shrink until several players return to the lineup.

They say when it rains it pours, and that certainly applies here.
