On Saturday The Griffins won their game over the Rockford Ice Hogs 7-5. Lombardi earned the 2nd star with 2 goals and an assist. This comes just one day after Hockeytown West won 8 to 3 over the Ice Hogs on Friday. Nate Danielson had 2 goals and an assist in that contest. Watson and Shine had returned to the team after stints with Detroit and the group is reinvigorated.

The embed of the game highlights are from Friday and Saturday’s performance. More than anything, this is an exciting way to wind down the regular season. The group just seems to be preparing for what could be a special post season. Lombardi now has 34 points (18 goals and 16 assists) in 38 games. Danielson took some time but now has 38 points (11g, 27a) in 65 games. These are the forwards that could grab a spot, just like Kasper did this year.

Even with a bit of a slump not long ago, this iteration of the Griffins is special. Tuomisto is coming on 3 goals and 24 assists for the right shot D, Cossa has a .911 sv% and 2.44GAA in 37 games. Buium is right behind Tuomisto with 2 goals and 22 assists in 62 games. These are some of the names fans have been talking about and it’s exciting to see the offense explode like this. Take a minute to enjoy what’s happening in Grand Rapids. This could make for an exciting AHL post season, and a competitive pre season and training camp.
